Why worry indeed, climate change is real.  But if we all do our bit the impact has the opportunity to be dramatic.  The issue is now firmly in the public eye and it will continue to cause headlines for generations to come.  However we are not in business to cause hysteria. We are in business to enable clean – carbon neutral energy to become a reality.  The principle is simple, every little helps.

Many may question the impact that carbon neutral, micro-generation can have, given the scale of overall power requirements and the creation of new carbon emitting power stations such as coal fired units. There is no question that it takes a lot of 5 Kw turbines to make an impact on the over all power requirement, however if the West leads and shows that low carbon living can exist in today’s environment then we can make it a reality.

The government is showing its support for renewable energy.  The average customer can obtain £5000 or a maximum of 30% on the installation costs, VAT is charged at 5% and there is no income tax on power sold to the utility companies.  In addition to this, commercially, the electricity sold can achieve more than £0.10 Kw/Hr and there are Renewable Obligation Certificates (Rocs) available in return for the total power generated (including what you consume) which currently trade at about £35 Mw/Hr.

There has never been (and probably never will be) a better time to get involved with renewable energy.  It is a fact though, that as pressure is applied to nations internationally, the demand for carbon neutral energy will continue to be high.  Current targets such as the government’s 15% of energy generated from renewable resources by 2015 mean that there is a massive amount of capacity for installations both large and small.
